Quality and Accreditation
QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The college undertakes a variety of approaches in terms of quality. Some are mandated by national requirements while others are required by professional bodies and International standards.
Oman Academic Accreditation Authority: at the Institution level, the college has completed stage 1 of the accreditation process by the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) in 2013. The second stage of the accreditation process started in September 2017 when the IMCO portfolio was submitted to the OAAA. A second submission will be made in October 2022, with the OAAA panel visit taking place in December of 2020. The results of this process will be awaited in about September 2023. Two plans for preparing for the ISA process have been developed: one for Phase 1 of the preparations and Phase 2 which is the current plan and will take the institution up to the submission in October and the preparation for the panel visit in December 2020.
CILT: The Logistics and Transport Management (LTM) program at both the diploma and bachelor level obtained CILT certification. It is valid until 2022.
ClassNK ISO 9001: The college obtained ISO9001:2008 certification for the first time in 2014. It has been successfully renewed every year. In 2018, the college obtained ISO 9001:2015. The current certificate is valid till November 2023.
European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA): As Oman has recently been added to EU list, the Certificate of Competencies (CoC) issued by Oman Ministry of Transport and Communications can be recognized by the EU member states based on bilateral agreements.
ABET: The process Engineering (PE) program is planning to undergo an international accreditation process by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET). This is the de-facto standard for engineering programs accreditation in the USA and in the GCC. Obtaining such an accreditation will add a great value to the college.
